DRACULA
Bram Stoker's Dracula, published for the first time in 1897, was described as "the strangest of the strange tales", it presents a series of clashes between ancient traditions and new ideas. Stoker uses the vampire's prsonage as a shorthand for many of the fears that were approaching the end of the Victorian century.
Dracula reflects very closely the murders and fears,  Dracula follows a pattern, with the attentions of the count centered in particular on Mina, a woman who selflessly spends her honeymoon caring for her sick husband in a convent, and the beautiful Lucy Westenra, who, on the contrary, is dangerously modern in Their paths. Those who took a hostile attitude towards the New Woman saw her as a male intellectual or as a vampire too sexed. When Lucy joins the ranks of the "undead", she herself becomes a vampire, leaving her grave at night to feed on a succession of helpless children in a parody distortion of the Victorian ideal of maternal femininity. Dracula and modernity The characters in the novel often refer to the theories of medicine and psychology.Van Helsing can transfer blood in an attempt to keep Lucy alive, but he also resorts to garlic flowers and crucifixes to keep the vampire at bay.
And at the beginning of the novel, Jonathan Harker watches the Count climb like lizards on the outside of the castle walls.
